There are certain parts of life that all of us have to deal with but we very rarely ever discuss them in public. One of those factors is popping pimples and if you say that you have never done it in your life, you know you are lying.
There are some people who not only appreciate popping zits, they also get excited when one appears because they know what is in their near future. Of course, we all realize it isn’t the best thing to do for your skin but when it comes to a head, it is practically impossible to keep your hands off of it.
Dr. Sandra Lee, who is also known as Dr. Pimple Popper understands that people love the habit. That is why she built a business on this very subject.
Millions of people follow Dr. Lee on her YouTube channel. They watch the videos to see her popping pimples and blackheads as well as large cysts. If it needs draining, you will likely find it on her channel.
“I really think that people like this because, in general, it makes them happy, for multiple reasons,” Lee said of people’s obsession with pimple popping.
“Either it relaxes you, decreases your anxiety as you feel a sense of completeness. It gets rid of your compulsions. It’s like something is not there anymore that isn’t supposed to be there.”
Because she had such a popular YouTube channel, TLC gave her a show of her own. She then took things to the next level by pairing with Spin Master, an entertainment company. Together, they created a pimple popping game, called Pimple Pete.
When you play this game, you pull pimples from Pete’s face but there is a catch; you need to avoid popping the mega-zip on his nose. If that mega-zip is popped, you are sprayed with water and you lose your points for the round. Some of the zits are more difficult to remove than others but you will be rewarded with additional points. It could be considered a strategy game and it is satisfying in a very strange way.
