In her newest Instagram post, Dr. Pimple Popper popped a “firework” epidermoid cyst.
The cyst is aptly named, as it squirts all over Dr. Pimple Popper as soon as she pops it.
Epidermoid cysts are closed sacs under the skin filled with dead skin cells.
Most of the time, Dr. Pimple Popper’s pops are relatively contained—she makes an incision, pushes on the bump, and out comes some gunk that’s easily picked (or wiped) away.
But in her newest Instagram post, things get much messier than usual: Dr. Pimple Popper actually pops an exploding cyst—and she even sets it to sound effects.
Once you click through the “sensitive content” warning on the post, shared Thursday evening by dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD, you’re greeted with a still of an epidermoid cyst that’s labeled “goo-be-gone!” (In case you’re not familiar with them, an epidermoid cyst is a closed sac under the skin that’s usually filled with dead skin cells(skin diseases), per the U.S. National Library of Medicine.)
“Baby, you’re a #firework! #cyst,” Dr. Pimple Popper captioned the post. When the video starts, the cyst is already cut open, with the doctor tugging away with her scissors and tweezers. She makes a cut and immediately yellow goo gushes out. The doctor then cuts through what she says is some scar tissue and that’s when the real show starts.
